Why I Enjoy Drama

I have enjoyed watching drama since being taken along to rehearsals at an early age by my dad who appeared in local amateur musical theatre productions. Since then I have expanded my love of drama to include lots of different genres and I enjoy watching both professional and amateur productions whenever I can.

One of the things I really enjoy about being involved in drama is taking a script from the page and seeing it evolve through rehearsals, adding the sound effects and lighting so that an audience can enjoy being transported to a different place for an evening by the finished production.

My Drama Experience

I started my own involvement in amateur theatre in 1998 and since then I have directed, stage managed, provided technical support and occasionally acted, with several different drama groups. With my husband Keith I have been a member of Woodlands since 2005 and have been involved in various productions in different capacities.  Woodlands Drama Group is a friendly and welcoming group who are committed to putting on high quality productions of a wide range of plays from many different genres. I feel very privileged to have been asked to join the committee.

Away from Drama

I work for a charity called Advonet in Leeds supporting people who lack the confidence or knowledge to speak out for themselves. I’m a member of the Patient Participation Group at my local GP surgery. I also enjoy watching new and classic films, a nice glass of something sparkly but most of all travelling both at home and abroad.
