My Drama Experience

I have been involved with speech and drama since my primary school days, representing my senior school at regional competitions in Kent. My love of the stage and all things linked to it has come from a family-wide involvement. My mother, Doris, was also a keen amateur dramatist and regularly trod the boards while the family lived in Hampshire. My aunt and uncle, now in their eighties, in Salisbury, have acted and directed for many years and still support their local drama group.

Before moving to Yorkshire I was a member of the Ealing Arts Drama Group where I acted, wrote short sketches and occasionally judged competitive drama. In Harrogate, I have been a member of the Deanery Players, performing in several musicals, as well as producing two major shows: South Pacific and Kiss Me Kate. I have also performed with the Phoenix Players in their production of ‘Gigi’.

As a keen member of Woodlands Drama Group, I was first cast in ‘A Month of Sundays’ as the cleaner Mrs Baker and reprised the ‘char lady’ role again, but somewhat differently, as Mrs Swab in ‘Habeas Corpus’. Both parts to were hugely enjoyable.
