The Chairman’s Welcome

Welcome to Woodlands Drama Group.

Woodlands is a very well liked and respected local drama group that over our 40 plus year history has collected many awards in the annual competitive festival of one act plays, starting with the group’s very first production “Isolation at Eyam”, and continuing to this day.  Woodlands has recently opened it’s door to junior members, and already our younger members have joined the great Woodlands tradition by scooping awards in our first ever junior entries to the competitive festival.

We are committed equally to artistic excellence and maintaining a friendly open door policy.  After all, how better to produce great drama than by having fun, working together as a team, allowing members of all ages and all levels of experience to grow in confidence and learn new skills, and by valuing all contributions large or small, on stage or off?  It is our policy to put on a varied repertoire and consequently we are continually setting ourselves new challenges (and continuing to rise to them!), and also ensuring that there is always something new for our audiences.

In our addition to our productions Woodlands also holds a number of social events during the year, a number of which have also become long established traditions.  These events include summer coffee morning and barbeque, Christmas party, social readings, theatre trips, and recently our first Murder Mystery evening.

Whatever your age or aspiration (acting, backstage work, or both) you will find that Woodlands welcomes you.  Don’t worry if you have no previous experience, bring along enthusiasm and you will receive all the support and encouragement you need.  Even if you have no aspirations to act, stage-manage or provide technical backup, you are still warmly invited to join us for play readings and other social activities, or simply follow us as a friend to remain informed of forthcoming productions.
